Words: Sarah Stone, Director and Founder of Stone Barrell
Bangladesh, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, India, Uganda and South Sudan… an unforgettable 2024 (so far).
Stone Barrell is all about helping fantastic nonprofits better tell their stories. Often that looks like us working alongside our nonprofit clients on a project from beginning to end - planning, gathering content, scripting, editing and producing inspiring multimedia material to help them spread the word about their amazing work. But sometimes we join them for just part of that journey, and we've had a great time doing that this year.
In the first half of 2024, a few of our clients asked us to come with them to their project locations to help capture their amazing work - taking photos, filming b-roll and interviewing contributors. When we returned to the UK, we shared everything we gathered with them, excited to see how they would bring it to life. We had the absolute privilege of meeting inspiring individuals in Asia, North America and Africa, taking their photos, hearing their stories, and being completely overwhelmed by their generous hospitality. You can see some snapshots of some of the people we've been meeting below.
It's such a joy getting invited on trips like this. Working alongside international nonprofits and local partners. Meeting project participants willing to share their stories and open their homes to us. Learning so much from the people we meet. And getting to do what we love - talk to people, learn about their lives and stories, and gather beautiful images (be they moving or still). Thanks so much for having us!
Some of the content we helped gather is already available online:
